The way to Helsinki ?
Finally, finally.
Today Latvian Pasts (Latvian Mail) delivered one letter for me. I found this thing inside
Heh, Latvian Pasts and Finish ticket company forced me to worry. The ticket delivery took 3 weeks.
So, the next question is how to get to Helsinki ?
1) One of the preferred ways by plane Rīga-Helsinki/Helsinki-Rīga, currently with few tricks it is possible to get ticket for 50 Ls per person (100$).
Preferred way to get there, because it will consume less time. However, ticket price could be unpredictable for long time period.
2) Flight number 2: Rīga – Tampere — Tampere-Helsinki (train) — Helsinki-Tampere– Tampere – Rīga, the reserve one. Plane tickets should not be much expensive, I’m not sure about train. It could take too much time to spent on Finish land (economy,economy mode).
3) If we will not be lucky with trains and planes, then I can imagine the following alternative.
Bus Rīga – Tallinn. Ferry Tallinn – Helsinki, Helsinki-Tallinn, Tallinn – Rīga.
Time consuming and money consuming solution.
4) Second alternative is to use private car. Make Rīga – Tallinn route with private car. I have doubts about the normal parking places at Helsinki, as well private car is not interesting solution, because it is private car.
So, have I missed anything ? Probably, someone can share the information about more cheaper way to get to Helsinki from Rīga (so it would not take 5 days to get the destination).
Hitchhiking
Heh, yes it is number 5).
but there are some problems, it will not take 5 days.
Unfortunately there are not any ferry boat, that we can use with hitchhiking
Alternatively, trough Russia, visa is required, not good.
Alternative 3, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland (I do not believe hitchhiking is possible there), Germany, Denmark, Sweden – Finland (but it would take 5 days
My personal experience with hitchhiking has been so discouraging that I wouldn’t take for granted that I could even make it to Lithuania in 5 days
Aha, I do not think hitchhiking is good way to travel over former USSR countries.
1) if you are male, the percentage that someone will take you decrease.
2) if you are female, especially one female, you can have problems with safety.
Anyway, few friends have positive experience with hitchhiking, but it is not the case for us, because we are 4 persons.

Some time ago I heared that there is a ferry line from Riga or Tallinn, have a look here http://www.tallink.lv/lv/, i haven’t researeched it yet, but may be will find something.
1) yes, it is time to book tickets, but I must consider opinions of other 3 persons, who are going with me.
2) As fas as I know, there are a lot of ferry lines from Tallinn to Helsinki, like public transport.
But bus to Tallinn takes 4 hours, ferry 4 hours. Mhm, plane is cheaper by the way

It is not a problem to split diesel costs (and ferry ticket),
but as there are few other guys, who are going. I will speak with them (2+1), either they can go separately or no.
