I attended plenty of matches in Daugavpils, when Dinaburg played with different teams (almost all Virsliga teams) at 2000-2002. Well, the question is what we should compare. Teams, budged, supporters, government interest, other factors that are resulting for quality level. I can compare to German bundesliga, one that I attended. The answer is clear, but there are a lot of factors, why is so. Ok, we will try this one, if they will relocate it to Ulbroka stadium, we can still go, as game is on saturday.

Yes, Baltic league is a bit too crappy. As far the Latvian league goes - as I've never been to a Virsliga match it would be worth going to one, so I'd have at least some sort of idea of how bad the level is there :) The calender suggests that the first match at least theoretically worth seeing in the Latvian league would be this one: 19.aprīlis (sestdiena) 18:00 Skonto FC - FC Daugava Latvia – Greece certainly is in my plans. Of course, theoretically remains the possibility to go today to see Riga - Ekranas, but it's also in a different stadium - in the Arkadijas sporta nams stadium near Torņakalns. Perhaps the best sci-fi I've read concerning sports is this novel by Robert Asprin: http://www.amazon.com/Myth-Directions-Robert-Asprin/dp/0441555292 Of course, he is a writer of a completely different caliber than Wells but his humour is quite good (especially if you don't unlike me try to read the entire "Myth" series which does get rather dull over time). Wells isn’t the most appropriate example as his vision of this possible future relied completely in social factors.
